Covid -19 in Poland
Poland is currently going through a second outbreak reaching up to 10 thousand cases a day. 10,241 new infections were recorded today – Monday, 26 October 2020, in Poland.

The Polish government decided to turn National Stadium in Warsaw into a COVID-19 field hospital to handle the growing number of patients infected with the coronavirus.

The Polish government has announced, the entire country will become a “red zone” from Saturday the 25th of October.

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda has tested positive for COVID-19 after taking a test on Friday. Mr. Duda’s spokesperson Blazej Spychalski tweeted that the president feels well and will be in quarantine.

Protests in cities across Poland against new abortion law

Thousands of Poles are protesting in cities across Poland against new abortion laws. The Polish Constitutional Tribunal’s ruling banned almost all kinds of abortion. Once this new law comes to force – abortion will be allowed with exceptions only for cases of rape, incest, or where the health is at risk. Protests took place in major cities in Poland, such as Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice, Poznan.

Yesterday some of the protesters disrupted church services across Poland.

On the weekend, there were some people supporting protests who held flowers in front of the Polish Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester.
